About Us
Enfield Counselling Service (ECS) was created in 1980 by an established group of counsellors and psychotherapists to offer affordable counselling and psychotherapy in Enfield and surrounding areas. As a working counselling centre, ECS has a long tradition of developing clinical and training programmes in tandem. It has a continuing commitment to high standards of both practice and training, with theory and practice well integrated.
ECS have been training counsellors for more than 20 years, with a range of training courses suited to individual needs. The Diploma courses are accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council. Trainers and supervisors at ECS are all qualified psychodynamic counsellors and psychoanalytic psychotherapists.
ECS is also an accredited counselling agency, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) for our professional counselling service, and subscribes to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (available to view here).
In 2013 ECS gained registration with the prestigious British Psychoanalytic Council and now provides the ability for students to become members of both organisations, the BACP and BPC.
Our Aim
The heart of ECS is to provide the best possible service to anyone in the local community who needs counselling. ECS trains its own counsellors to the highest possible standards that the counselling world can offer. The training at ECS is continuously monitored and assessed by the British Psychoanalytic Council one of the most esteemed authorities in the country. ECS also aims to offer affordable counselling to those who can’t manage the fees charged in the private sector, and to those with emotional and behavioural symptoms that need to be addressed more quickly than they can currently by the NHS. The service offers quick assessments with minimal waiting periods before a counsellor is allocated.
